I just finished reading the book. The story focuses mainly on a woman named Ashley whose sister dies after becoming ill. Before dying her sister reveals information that makes Ashley believe there is more to her death than just natural causes. As Ashley begins investigating she becomes more and more convinced that her sister was murdered. She eventually uncovers the truth. Now I enjoy a good mystery but somehow this book missed the mark for me. Having religious issues which prevents her from acknowledging her attraction to women seemed to not really fit in with the story in general. I want a good mystery which keeps me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who did it and this just did not deliver in that aspect. If this were not a mystery but just a story about a woman coming to terms with her sisters death and her own sexually perhaps it would have been more interesting. As a mystery it just fell flat for me. I gave it 3 stars because I did like the characters and I thought the author did a good job of presenting them and making them relevant to the story. So it was not a total loss.

Great mix of mystery and coming to terms with who you are despite the rigid upbringing of conservative religion background!
Alison - You did it again! Devoted keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire book. If you haven't already read Alison's other novel, Along Came the Rain, check it out too.
This is the second book by Alison Solomon that I have read. I found them both very interesting and enjoyable, with lots of plot twists. She tells a good story. In addition to the excellent unfolding of the mystery, I loved her beautiful descriptions of Florida. It's a place I don't know and had never imagined was so beautiful. The characters in the book are well defined and multidimensional. I look forward to her next book.
Wow learned a lot about faith and love. How two sisters who grew up in a Christian household choose two ways to show their love of God. Ashley and Lizzie touched a lot of lives
Interesting story, well written, although a little too heavy on religion for my liking.
If you liked Alison R. Solomon's previous book, "Along Came the Rain," then you will love,"Devoted." The story hooks you from the very first chapter and you won't be able to put it down until you finish. One interesting thing about Solomon's use of differing points of view is that she causes us to change our feelings about the current narrator(s) as the story switches back and forth from others' points of view and her own. So you don't always know what you know! Looking forward to more suspense stories from A. R. Solomon.
I thought this book was very well written and Ms. Solomon was able to tell a few different stories in one book.
On one hand we were able to see how religion can mess with someone's head, and make them doubt their very own feelings. We also get to get to read a who done it thriller. I thought that it was clear pretty early on, who had done it. However, Ms.Solomen's deeper writings into the why was very enthralling.
It was a pretty fast read for me, which I liked. But it also had depth of characters that you don't see often.
